Se describe una nueva subespecie del género Eulachnus, de España; sierras del este de Andalucía y de la parte occidental de la mitad norte peninsular. E. mediterraneus ibericus ssp. n. Se diferencia de E. mediterraneus mediterraneus por tener las tibias posteriores uniformemente pigmentadas, como en E. rileyi y por la presencia de más escleritos setíferos en el dorso del abdomen, además las setas dorsales y tibiales son también algo más largas. La nueva subespecie vive predominantemente sobre Pinus pinaster y se la ha capturado también sobre P. sylvestris, P. nigra, s.l. y P. halepensis. Parece ser endémica de la Península Ibérica, y posiblemente esté limitada a los pisos de vegetación mesomediterráneo, supramediterráneo y oromediterráneo de la provincia fitogeográfica Mediterráneo-Ibero-Atlántica.

A new subspecies of Eulachnus from Spain, E. mediterraneus ibericus ssp. n. (Hemiptera: Aphididae, Lachninae). A new subspecies of the genus Eulachnus from Spain, E. mediterraneus ibericus ssp. n., is described. The new entity was discovered while reviewing the aphidological collection of the Department of Animal Biology of the University of León (Spain) among specimens collected from pines in the Sputh and in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. E. mediterraneus ibericus differs from E. mediterraneus s. str. in having pigmented hind tibiae as in E. rileyi and more numerous dorsal basal sclerites of setae; the drosal and the tibial hairs are also slightly longer. E. mediterraneus ibericus was found living mainly on Pinus pinaster but also on P. sylvestris, P. nigra s.l. and P. halepensis and it is believed to be native to the Iberian Peninsula and it is probably distributed in the ?__Mediterranean-Iberian-Atlantic?__ Phytogeografic province, vegeation levels ?__mesomediterranean?__, ?__supramediterranean?__ and ?__oromediterranean?__.
