Interaction between the parasitoid Hyposoíer didymanor (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) and an entomopathogenic nematode (Nematoda, Steinernematidae) on Spodoptera littoralis (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) larvae

ABSTRACT
Groups of Spodoptera linoralis larvae, parasitized at third instar by Hyposoíer didymator. were expossed for 24 h to knwon doses of Infective Juvenils (U) of an undescribed species of Síeinernema (glaseri group) at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 10 days intervals after parasitization. The larvae exposed to IJ after six days of parasitization were the most susceptible ones. The parasitoid larvae emerge, from the host, at 10 days and the nematodes invade and kill them.

In the parasitized host, killed by the nematode, the U developed normaly and produced progeny while parasitoid larvae died. Besides nematodes were observad in the hemocoele of some parasitoid larvae.

The overall efect of both agents on Spodoptera linoralis larvae, in general, was antagonist.

The interaction between the parasitoid and nematode is unfavourable to the parasitoid, in consequence it is not recomended to apply simultaneously both agents for S. I ¡floral Ls control.
