Se estudia la fauna de Carabidae de 11 lagunas, 1 embalse y 4 ríos de la Submeseta Sur, habiéndose encontrado 144 especies. Las tribus mejor presentadas son Bembidiini y Harpalini, siendo esta última la que muestra mayor diversificación de hábitats. Este resultado se reitera en otras zonas de la Península Ibérica La comparación entre la fauna de enclaves estables y la de otros inestables cercanos, sugiere que tanto las características abióticas de estos últimos como la distancia que los separa influyen notablemente sobre el conjunto colonizador que provine de los lugares estables. Se discuten algunos aspectos sistemáticos de la tolerancia de los Carabidae a la salinidad edáfica y de los criterios para clasificarla; son necesarias más determinaciones cuantitativas para intentar obtener definiciones objetivas de dichos criterios.

The carabid fauna of 11 lakes and pools, 1 reservoir and 4 rivers of the Submeseta Sur (Spain) is studied; 144 species have been found. Tribes better represented are Bembidiini and Harpalini, and this one shows the higher habitat diversification, a result that is alfo found in other zones of the Iberian Peninsula. Comparison between the fauna of permanent water bodies and that of unstable ones suggests that both abiotic characteristics of these alst sites and distance of migration influence the colonizing set. Some systematic aspects concerning the tolerance of Carabidae to soil salinity and the criteria for classifying it are discussed; more quenatitative data are needed for trying to obtain a more objective definition of these criteria.
