La fauna dipterológica de los bosques de laurisilva de la isla de Tenerife comprende hasta el momento 49 familias que incluyen un total de 277 especies. Aproximadamente un 30% de éstas son características de dicho bosque, estando constituido el resto por especies secundarias presentes también en otros ecosistemas insulares. Del análisis faunistico llevado a cabo se deduce que los bosques de laurisilva han podido jugar en la biota insular un cuádruple papel: como hábitat para fauna relíctica, como refugio geográfico, como centro de especiación y como ?__cementerio evolutivo?__. Por otra parte, y según los presentes datos, puede concluirse que la contínua reducción del ára de estos bosques en las islas ha afectado directamente a su fauna dipterológica, haciendo que ésta disminuye de forma paralela.

Faunistic analysis of the Diptera of the laurel forests of Tenerife, Canary Islands (Insecta, Diptera). The dipteran fauna of the laurel forest on the island of Tenerife currently comprises 49 families englobing a total of 277 species. Approximately 30% of the latter are characteristic of the mentioned forest, the remainder corresponding to secondary species that are also to be found in other insular ecosystems. After carrying out a faunistic analysis, one concludes that the laurel forests could have played a 4-part role in the insular biota: as a habitat for relict fauna, as a geographical refuge, as a centre of speciation and as an ?__evolutionary cemetery?__. On the other hand, and in accordance with the data presented, one can conclude that the continual reduction in the extension of these forests on the Island has directly affected their dipteran fauna, causing a parallel reduction of the same.
